Noisy Magpies On Roof

I saw two magpies on somebodies roof lifting moss and throwing it to one side and then examining intently where the moss had been.

I came to realise that the noise was indeed coming from a magpie and i wasn t actually crazy. One day i was across the road playing with lacey and ma was along for the ride and the siren aka magpie went off. I told hubby and he feigned interest and belief. After much consideration i decided it was probably the numerous magpies around my area.

Turns out the drywall wasn t secured properly to an exterior wall. The cold at night was making the framing beams to expand and contract causing an annoying rhythmic ticking noise. The magpies go into our guttering and pick up moss and leaves throwing them down onto the conservatory roof which makes quite a noise. Many mornings and throughout the day i hear crows on my roof pecking and banging for some reason.

Very rarely i m woken by the birds the dawn chorus in the spring can be quite spectacular. I assumed they must be looking for grubs seeing as they were losing so much moss to the ground. Thankfully there are plenty of ways to get these. Magpies don t make noises like police cars.

The roofing company used screws throughout the roof to help. The we still had this ticking noise going on in our bedroom.
