New Siding Over T111

I will be installing hardie plank siding over the t 111 using it as sheeting.

Nor can you overlay compromised t1 11 with a non structural panel and assume that it still meets the structural requirements. My plan simplified is to fur out the walls to plane in with the gables because they overlap the walls wrap with jumbo tex building paper and install hardiplank. 1 should i include a moisture barrier over the existing felt for the front of the home prior to hardiplank install. The condition of the t1 11 should be examined carefully. Can new siding be placed over old siding. Bought in big sheets 4 8 or 4 12 these sheets can cover lots of sf very easily.

Now the kicker is whether or not to run 30 felt over the t 111 before siding. Some arizona houses were built with wood siding normally called t1 11. T1 11 was a bad idea in damp climates for a number of reasons. Above all it is extremely important that there is a substrate whether it s new osb or existing siding in good integrity installed directly to the studs underneath the hardieplank siding.

Lastly while t 111 siding is one of the least expensive siding products it needs painting or staining every few years and is generally not nearly as durable as many others. Overlay is simply to install a new sheet over the old sheet. I am quoting a reside for a ho it is currently single wall construction t 111 siding w 15 felt under the siding. 15 felt is a poor wrb at best so my gut instinct is that it is a good idea to throw a layer of 30 felt on before.

That in my mind anyway raises the question of whether to apply a second layer of building paper under the shingles or to just shingle directly over the plywood. In this case would you recommend eliminating the vents. If you are considering new siding i d suggest reviewing all options before proceding with a 2nd layer of t 111 siding. 2 should i add a moisture barrier over the existing t111 siding for the other three sides of the home.

I have been reading various opinions on this topic and hope to generate some conclusion on what is the right choice. T1 11 fits that description. I am working with a customer to install new windows and reside their house which currently has t111 siding with hardiplank lap siding. I want to put horizontal and vertical siding over the t1 11 with some wrb and coraplast strips behind it.

The roof has virtually no pitch. I have a house with t1 11 as it s siding sheathing.
