One of the most common reasons a shed roof leaks is the same as your home s roof leaking. While they might not look as pretty they ll do the job. I decided to get it re felted and chose a heavy grade that would see me out. If your ceiling has a plastic vapor barrier between the drywall and the attic insulation push the insulation aside and look for flow stains on the plastic.

The shingles are damaged or missing. To check for leaks you ll need to look out for discoloration on the inside roof and walls of the shed. Dig out any cracked or dry caulking that isn t properly sealing adjoining surfaces and replace with silicone caulk. A local gardening firm re covered it but didn t seal the overlaps.

In other words skylights stack lines chimneys and valleys are the most common places to see a leak if the tiles themselves are in good shape. You ll need to check for any discoloration to the structure particularly stains and darker patches.
